When will the Republican Party separate the abortion issue from stem cell research in a way that even stern Democrats can understand. Babies do not have to be aborted for stem research to thrive. We have an indefinate supply of stem cells that could be procured daily from the cord blood of live infants. We don't need to abort babies to provide stem cells for research! In situations where the parents have not already decided to bank stem cells themselves, these stem cells could be procured and used for the benefit of all. What we need is a National Stem Cell Bank with regulations and guidelines on procuring these often discarded and destroyed stem cells . Think of the number of babies born daily in the U.S. and the number of cord blood stem cells that are destroyed daily as mediacl waste!!!
